Submission Guidelines

General Proposal Guidelines:

All media will be considered within current space and equipment limitations. Gallery facilities consist of 700 sq feet with 90 ft of running wall space at a height of 9 ft 6 inches, plywood lined walls, halogen track lighting, basic installation hardware and tools, electrical outlets placed low on the walls, 1 monitor with plinth, VCR or DVD player (subject to availability). Artists are responsible for any additional required equipment or display materials, including plinths.

Proposals Should Include:


1. Documentation

10 to 20 images saved as compatible .jpg files at 72 dpi in RGB colour mode. Label each image with a number and title – start the first nine images with a zero (01title.jpg, 02title.jpg…10title.jpg) to insure they are presented in the order you wish. Include a numbered image list with the artist’s name, title of work, medium, dimensions and date of completion. 


Or for Film/Video/Audio/Time-based Work:


Video or audio files that open in Quicktime or Windows Media Player, clearly marked with the artist’s name, title of work, and duration. Include a list of works with decription description of content. Running time is not to exceed 10 minutes with an exception for Filmmakers submitting a Feature Length or Short Film exceeding 10 minutes to the Film Festival Residency: please submit a condensed copy not exceeding 30 minutes or cue your tape to a desired starting point.

2. Exhibition Proposal & Artist's Statement

a. Please state whether you are applying for general exhibition, or for the thematic the Natural & the Manufactured exhibition. (Make a note if you wish to be considered for both.)

b. A clear and concise description of the proposed exhibition, listing any special requirements.

c. An artist's statement relating to the proposed work.*Text in excess of one page will not be presented to the selections committee.

3. A current CV

Please include a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage if you want your work documentation to be returned. Please allow from 8 to 12 weeks for notification. The Gallery holds accepted proposals until the exhibition.

*Packages that do not include all of the above will be deemed incomplete and may not be considered. Please, only include the requested material in your proposal package.

FEES & FINANCIALS

The ODD Gallery pays a solo exhibition fee of $1,688 and provides one-way shipping assistance up to $500. Artist talk fees of $200 are paid to visiting artists for a presentation on or around the exhibition opening. In addition, the Gallery will cover the production of promotion and dissemination materials such as invitations, exhibition brochures and postage. The ODD Gallery provides food and beverages for all our exhibition openings.

While the Gallery will assist with installation and will cover basic production expenses, the artist will be responsible for installation logistics and all other expenses such as transportation, travel, framing, specialized equipment and major painting/repairs. All work exhibited in the gallery will be insured up to a total value of $20,000 for the course of the exhibition including time in transit.
