Courses and Workshops



 KIAC offers and supports local community arts education through outreach programs, courses, and workshops that are developed and implemented to meet the broad range of community interests.


UPCOMING PROGRAMS:                

Kid's Dance with Colleen Booth and Katie Pearse

SUNDAYS from April 19th - May 24th

JAZZ DANCE (ages 7+) $68
1:00 - 1:45pm

Children will be introduced to the basics of ballet and jazz in a fun atmosphere, in ways that hope to instill a love for dance. Through daily warm-ups and exercises students will gain strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination. A short dance will be learned and performed on the last day of classes.

CREATIVE DANCE (ages 5 & 6)
1:45 - 2:30pm

See your child's confidence grow as they learn basic dance skills through fun and innovative ways. This fun, energetic class allows students to be expressive while still learning basic technique. A short dance will be learned and performed on the last day of classes.

CREATIVE DANCE (ages 3 & 4)
2:30 - 3:00pm

Through movement games, stories and songs, children will have a chance to learn more about their bodies from the fun perspective of dance.

PARENT and TOT DANCE (18 months- 2+)
3:00 - 3:30pm

Parents and Tots can meet in a fun and social class that is designed to encourage musicality while improving coordination, posture, and strength. Parent Participation required; Dad’s, Grandpa’s, Uncle’s etc. encouraged!


  • We ask that parents wait outside the ballroom while classes are on. Parents are welcome to watch on the last day of class.
  • All children should come to class wearing comfortable clothing they can move in, with their hair tied back and ballet slippers or bare feet.

Ever seen a Burlesque show and thought, "I want to do that!"? Well, now you can!

Join Rachel Wiegers (aka Chevonne of the Yukon) and Katie Pearse in an 8-session intensive burlesque course culminating in a public Burlesque Showcase where students get to perform their own solo acts and join their class in a group show finale!

This class will teach you all of the knowledge and skills you need to get started as a beginner burlesque performer.

Open to women of all shapes and sizes, aged 19+. No previous dance skills are required, just a strong desire to shimmy & shake your way to the stage!

WHEN: Tuesdays April 7th - May 12th + Thursday May 7th & Thursday May 14th
TIME: 7:00-9:30pm

Join Tiss Clarke for this great class that will help kids to develop various music-related skills while working with others, developing imagination and having fun!

Kids will become familiar with different aspects of music including:

·         the development of a music vocabulary

·         creating sounds to accompany stories, nursery rhymes and songs

·         responding to the beat in music

·         learning to recognize pitch differences and much more!

For 3-5 year olds. Parents must attend with 3-4 year olds.

$10/class pre-paid at registration.

Inspire and be inspired by other artists. Bring your own ideas and painting surfaces. Paints, brushes and easels are supplied, no instruction offered.
